The oldest known tattoo on human skin was found using carbon ink, found on the body of "Otzi the Iceman" in the Alps with 61 tattoos on his body! It is estimated that he was alive between 3370 to 3100 BC.

The very first tattoo machine was invented by Samuel O'Reilly in 1891. It stemmed from Thomas Edison's electric pen.

One of the oldest recorded tattoo in recipes dates back to Ancient Egypt, where they used pine bark, corroded bronze, vinegar, vitriol, leek juice and insect eggs. 

Women are more likely than men to have at least one tattoo, but twice as likely to remove it.

Tattooing is illegal in three countries; Iran, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

The average cost of a small tattoo is $45, while the average cost of a large tattoo is $150 per hour.
